In India, the Google Pixel Watch 3 is now accessible. This is the greatest smartwatch to buy if you have an Android phone, despite a few issues with some of its most notable functions, including the ECG.

To Put It Briefly

  • Google released the Google Pixel Watch 3 in two more sizes.
  • In India, the cost of the 41mm Pixel Watch 3 is Rs 39,900.
  • The Pixel Watch 3 has a ton of AI functions.

In terms of the Pixel smartphones, it seems like Google is doing everything correctly this year. In our recent review, we praised Google’s improvements and refinements to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 XL. We found the new Pixel Pro XL to be almost flawless, in fact.

However, there are other Pixel devices that require your attention this year outside the Pixel 9 series. The Google Pixel Watch 3, one of the greatest Android smartwatches on the market right now, is now accessible in India as well. We say this after using it for more than a week.

One of the most notable features of the new Pixel Watch 3 is its larger 45mm dial, which has long been anticipated by Pixel owners. Moreover, it boasts an Actua Display, a brighter screen with a brightness of up to 2000 nits, which is Google’s marketing word for its gadgets.

We are now reviewing the 41mm version of the Watch 3, which provides an additional option. There is almost no difference between the 45mm and 41mm Watch 3 save the size of the screen.

Additionally, the Google Pixel Watch 3 has faster charging and longer battery life. According to Google, it can charge 20% quicker than earlier models. Numerous other health-related features have also been introduced by Google, such as Daily Readiness, Cardio Load, Target Load, loss of pulse detection, and improved heart rate monitoring for running. And all of this is powered by the most recent Wear OS 5.0, which has several exclusive AI functions today, much like Android.

When Google unveiled the Google Pixel Watch 3 at Google I/O 2024, complete with all of its new features and improvements, it undoubtedly looked promising. However, with technology, we should not judge a book by its cover or a spec sheet.

I was eager to see if Google had lived up to the expectations when I received the Pixel Watch 3 for testing. And to my astonishment, everything is almost perfect, not just right. I now use the Apple Watch 9, which is the powerful and beloved device, as my primary wristwatch, but in some situations, I prefer the Pixel Watch 3.

What is new, then, and why is the Pixel Watch 3 practically flawless? Allow me to get into it gradually.

Google Pixel Watch 3 : Refined design

One thing about timepieces with circular dials is… Or maybe, in my opinion, the circle represents the genuine form of a watch, digital or traditional. It seems that round timepieces better fit the wrist. In light of this reasoning, the circular Pixel Watch 3 received a bonus point as soon as I opened its packaging.

We received the 41 mm polished silver aluminum Google Pixel Watch 3 with a porcelain colored rubber band for the evaluation. The 41 mm size is ideal for someone with a little wrist like myself; a bigger version is also offered for those who would like it.

The Google Pixel Watch 3 has a sleek, classy, and minimalistic appearance. Despite having a somewhat heavier feel than the Apple Watch 9, the dial is still comfortable to wear on the wrist. There is a working crown with the same aluminum finish on the side. One small quibble, though: even if the crown is the same color, it does not appear to go well with the watch’s general design. It has a strange appearance, like the crown of an analog timepiece.

Even after a long day, the strap is easy to wear and lightweight. With the exception of while it was charging, I wore the watch for around 22 hours every day, and it felt comfortable on my wrist the whole time. I thought it was great that there were two sets of straps in the box; you could pick whichever one best suited your needs.

Google Pixel Watch 3 : Bright and smooth display

The 320 PPI AMOLED display of the Pixel Watch 3 has a maximum brightness of 2000 nits. Even with the 41mm version I used, I never had to squint or strain my eyes to read and browse on this brilliant display, inside or out. I could see and read app icons with ease. I even tried using the Watch 3 to type texts while sending messages on WhatsApp, and I was surprisingly good at it. The 60Hz refresh rate that the panel delivers is seamless and does not lag.

I really enjoyed the variety of watch faces that Google Pixel provides. There are several alternatives available, ranging from fashionable to fitness-focused. In addition, I kept the Always-On Display option on, and despite the increased battery usage, I only needed to charge the watch once per day. It was a lot of pleasure to use the Pixel Watch 3 because of its smooth display and amazing selection of watch faces. And that gets me to the new Wear OS 5.0’s delights.

Google Pixel Watch 3 : Fine tuned with WearOS

The Qualcomm W5 processor is found within the Google Pixel Watch 3. It has the same CPU as the Pixel Watch 2, but it now has a new Cortex-M33 coprocessor, which uses less power. There are several customization possibilities available with the WearOS on the Watch 3. Grids, animations, and other elements may all be adjusted and customized. I never thought the watch display was overly overloaded with information, even if the 41 mm dial is modest. In actuality, Wear OS kept a simple aesthetic that blended in flawlessly with the watch’s general design.

I connected the Pixel Watch 3 to the Pixel 9, which India Today Tech just reviewed. for a cause. The Google Pixel Watch 3 functions best with a Google Pixel phone, however it should work with any Android smartphone.

I connected the Fitbit activity tracking app, the Watch app, Google Home, and Fit with the Google Pixel Watch 3 as soon as I linked it with the Pixel 9. The Pixel Watch 3 truly offered a quicker and more convenient way to operate Android devices, from controlling TV to regularly tracking health and fitness to syncing the watch with Google Home.

Google Pixel Watch 3 : Perfect for fitness tracking with Fitbit

The Pixel Watch 3 excels at fitness monitoring, if you have to ask. Although I am not a fitness enthusiast, I do my best to have a healthy lifestyle by going for frequent walks, eating well, and doing some weight training at the gym. I have had a lot of success tracking my steps, active hours, health indicators, and other things using the Pixel Watch 3. My Apple Watch 9 and the data were nearly identical when I compared them.

Even while aspects like step count and cardio load may not seem like much to those who are not serious about fitness, they are useful for tracking daily health, particularly for those who are managing disorders like thyroid, PCOS, diabetes, heart problems, and so on. With its fall detection capability, it could even be helpful to elderly persons who are prone to falls. Additionally, you can set up notification reminders on the watch, which will remind you to drink water, stand up, move more, and other things every hour. This feature is not brand-new, but it does enhance the experience.

To give comprehensive statistics, the watch synchronizes with the Fitbit app. The majority of the tracking tools are free, but a membership is required for the advanced running stats. But even without the premium edition, the Fitbit app and watch perform remarkably well.

Google Pixel Watch 3 : Health tracking features

The Google Pixel Watch 3’s health tracking is not the best, but fitness tracking is its best feature. Not that Google does not have features, but not all of them are accessible. For example, the much-discussed Pulse Detection tool is still unavailable in India since it needs regulatory permission. Furthermore a little unclear is the ECG functionality.

It is possible to capture ECG readings, but it is not as smooth as with the Apple Watch 9, which takes ECG with ease and generates a good report in PDF format that you can share with a physician. To enable the ECG on the Watch 3, you must first download the app from the Playstore and then choose it from the Watch’s app menu. It might be a little difficult to examine the report even after the data has been recorded.

Although there is room for development in the ECG capability, the Pixel Watch 3 is excellent at real-time heart rate recording. You can simply measure heart rate in real-time when you enable a watch face that shows it. This is especially helpful when measuring your cardio load at the gym.

Sleep monitoring is another excellent health function, far superior than that of the Apple Watch. The Google Pixel Watch 3 measures sleep in a way that seems more natural and precise than the Apple Watch, which still has trouble with reliable sleep monitoring and mostly depends on preset sleep routines. It offers information on deep sleep, duration, and sleep score, which has aided me in tracking my sleep as well as understanding my sleep habits and how my body would react the following day.

The Google Pixel Watch 3 began providing a “Readiness Score” following seven days of use. Based on daily data collected by the Watch on heart rate, blood oxygen level, and sleep, this score helps you understand how fatigued your body is. It then informs you as to whether or not your body is prepared for a strenuous workout. In short, it gives information on your body’s energy reserves and physical load tolerance based on your heart rate, sleep patterns, and other health indicators. It seems elegant, yet it might aid certain users in comprehending their energy levels.

The Watch 3 has a respectable amount of battery life, considering that all of this data is gathered in real time and its sensors are always in use. The Watch 3 requires a 22-hour charge period before it has to be recharged. It takes around an hour to charge completely. Stated differently, you may use the Watch to track your activities, work, and sleep throughout the day. Additionally, you may charge it every morning as you get ready for the day.

Google Pixel Watch 3 review: Should you buy it?

An costly wristwatch is the Google Pixel Watch 3. In India, the 41 mm variant costs Rs 39,900, while the bigger 45 mm version costs Rs 43,900. The Watch 3 is more costly than some other Android smartwatches. That being said, it is not the same as the Apple Watch. But here’s where it gets tricky: In a way, Apple Watch is a component of a better environment. In India, more people own iPhones than Pixel phones.

But having said that, I believe the Google Pixel Watch 3 is the greatest Android wristwatch available, especially if you own a Pixel phone. Its feature set is quite enjoyable to use, especially the sleep monitoring tool. It is also the most stylish smartwatch, in my opinion—especially the 41mm model for smaller wrist sizes.

The Google Pixel Watch 3 has a sleek design, a bright, fluid display, and a ton of customization choices. Additionally, the WatchOS is a pleasure to use and performs admirably, especially when it comes to tracking fitness and health. Although there is a small complaint about features like ECG, I think Google might improve it with a few software updates. All things considered, the Pixel Watch 3 is an ideal partner for a Pixel phone if that is your main gadget.
