The newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset is available in smartphones for the first time in India with the iQOO 12.

On December 12, iQOO introduced its most recent high-end smartphone, the iQOO 12, in India. It is the first smartphone in the nation to come equipped with the most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The goal of the product is to provide excellent performance at a cost that is comparatively in the middle range. The iQOO 12 is offered in two storage variants and two versions: Legend (BMW, White) and Alpha (Black). The 16GB + 512GB version costs ₹57,999, while the 12GB + 256GB version costs ₹52,999.

For more than a week, we have been testing the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage iQOO 12 “Legend” model.

iQOO 12 : Design

One of the most beautifully designed phones we’ve seen recently is the iQOO 12 (Legend). It feels high-end because of the silver frame and white back panel with BMW M Motorsport stripes.

The phone has a slick surface and should be handled carefully despite its elegant appearance. With its heavy weight of 203.9 grams, users with smaller hands might find it difficult to handle due to its large footprint.

The IP64 classification improves dust and water resistance, and the well-balanced rear camera module prevents swaying on flat surfaces. Additionally, the phone has an optical fingerprint sensor built right into the screen.

iQOO 12 : Display

With a 6.78-inch (2800 × 1260) AMOLED screen that supports HDR10+, 10-bit color depth, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness, the iQOO 12 is a powerful device.

Depending on what you are doing, the device can automatically switch between different refresh rates, with a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz.

You can stream Full-HD content on Netflix and other platforms thanks to the display’s support for Widevine L1, which enables it to showcase high contrast and deep blacks. When used with compatible platforms, the phone can also smoothly play HDR videos.

The large screen size and fast refresh rates made browsing social media and the web a very enjoyable experience. The superb contrast, vibrant colors, and good saturation enhance the viewing experience of content on Netflix and YouTube.

A range of color modes and visual improvements are included to improve the viewing experience overall.

The phone boasts stereo speakers that are among the best at this price point, with good bass and a loud enough volume.

iQOO 12 : Cameras

The 50MP primary camera with OIS is the star of the three rear cameras on the iQOO 12.

A 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus and a 64MP periscopic lens with 3x optical zoom and up to 10x hybrid zoom are among the additional cameras on the device’s back.

Clear, well-focused photos can be taken with the camera.

On the other hand, some processing flaws existed. There were occasional problems with over-sharpening and picture stacking, which had an impact on the overall flagship-grade quality.

The camera’s versatility is demonstrated by its various shooting modes, such as Super Macro and Portrait, but there is still opportunity to fine-tune the processing algorithms for consistently excellent results.

When there is enough light during the day, you can get pleasing close-up photos with a telephoto sensor that can zoom in as much as 10X (hybrid zoom).

Funtouch OS 14’s integrated camera interface provides simple navigation and access to a range of settings and modes.

Images taken with the 16-megapixel front-facing selfie camera are reasonably clear and have accurate skin tones.

iQOO 12 : Performance and software

Equipped with the most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the iQOO 12 is among the most potent phones available right now.

It runs demanding games like Fortnite and Genshin Impact with ease, throttling and lag as little as possible at high graphics settings.

Gaming performance is enhanced through the combination of the internal Q1 chip and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Vivo’s Funtouch OS 14 is installed on top of Google’s most recent Android 14 operating system, which powers the device’s simple and intuitive interface. Additionally, a few pre-installed apps are included, including PhonePe, Netflix, Spotify, Snapchat, and Facebook.

The device is frequently bothered by unsolicited notifications and app recommendations from the integrated V-Appstore.

iQOO 12 : Battery

The phone supports 120W SuperVOOC charging and has a 5,000mAh battery.

It typically takes about 30 minutes to fully charge, and if you don’t use it for prolonged gaming sessions, it can easily last an entire workday.

iQOO 12 : Verdict

The iQOO 12 has a good telephoto shooter, a competent display, next-generation performance, and an appealing design. It is a unique product with only a few minor flaws.

Should you be searching for a gadget that can satisfy your demands for a powerful smartphone and provide a respectable flagship experience, the iQOO 12 may be a compelling option.
