Samsung Galaxy Buds FE In brief

  • User claims Samsung Galaxy Buds FE burst in ear.
  • Service center states earbuds are ‘misshapen’, provides replacement option.
  • Event posted on Samsung’s online community forum in Turkey

In a surprising incident, a person in Turkey stated that a Samsung Galaxy Buds FE blew up in their girlfriend’s ear resulting in irreversible hearing damage. The event was posted on Samsung’s online forum for Turkish users. According to the forum user’s post, he had just bought the earbuds to connect with his Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The earbuds were brand new, had 36% battery remaining, and had never been charged after being bought.

But the thrill of his new earbuds quickly turned to sorrow when his girlfriend decided to borrow them and one of the earbuds exploded in her ear while she was using them. Reports indicate that his girlfriend suffered permanent hearing loss due to the suspected explosion.

Following the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE explosion, the user shared their encounter with Samsung’s service center in Cemalpasa, Adana. Reports stated that the staff seemed apologetic when he initially presented the damaged earbuds. Nevertheless, following a 48-hour inquiry, they allegedly determined that the buds had merely become “deformed” rather than detonated.

Even though the user claimed the earbuds exploded during use, the service center still offered a replacement of the same model in a dismissive manner. They also let him know that if he was still unhappy, he could take legal action.

Feeling disappointed with the result, the user mentioned that he had been struggling with this problem for several months. He stated that he had every essential paperwork required, such as the receipt, pictures showing the device before and after the incident, and medical documents proving his hearing impairment resulted from the blast.

Even though these allegations have not been confirmed by an outside source, they continue to raise worries regarding the safety of Bluetooth devices.

A gadget has caught fire during use before. Actually, there have been multiple cases of product explosions with Samsung devices in the past. One of the most notorious incidents was the Galaxy Note 7 crisis in 2016, when the phone’s batteries were susceptible to overheating and bursting. After receiving multiple reports of fires and injuries, Samsung issued a global recall of millions of units. The brand’s reputation was greatly harmed by the incident, resulting in the complete discontinuation of the Note 7 model.

Along with smartphones, Samsung Galaxy Buds FE washing machines also gained attention for safety issues. During the period of 2015 to 2016, there were instances of Samsung’s top-loading washing machines detonating as a result of a flaw in the design that led to too much vibration. This resulted in a significant recall of 2.8 million units in the United States due to property damage and injuries caused by the machines.
