Whether you possess an older model, are seeking to purchase your first Apple Watch Series 10, or are a Series 9 user, the Apple Watch Series 10 is a terrific option for everyone. Read India Today Tech’s detailed review to find out all about it.
Briefly
- The Apple Watch Series 10 boasts a larger display than the Apple Watch Series 10 model.
- Compared to the Watch 9, the Watch Series 10 is clearly lighter and sleeker.
Compared to Watch Series 9, the new Watch charges more quickly.
I couldn’t help but think of Daft Punk’s song Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger as I was testing the Apple Watch Series 10. I’ve been using my Apple Watch constantly for over ten years. I use the Watch to start my day, depend on it for every exercise, and wear it to bed three or four times a week. I’ve been wearing the 42mm Apple Watch Series 9 for the past year. I became aware of the differences right away when I put on the Series 10 review unit. It has a considerably bigger display, is lighter, and is thinner.
Apple Watch Series 10 is bigger, better, faster, lighter
Despite what a lot of people are saying online, I think the Apple Watch Series 10 is a significant improvement over its predecessors. The Series 10 is a wise purchase if it falls within your budget, regardless of whether you currently own an earlier model, are thinking about getting your first Apple Watch, or are a Series 9 user. Indeed, the design is essentially the same, and you probably won’t see much of a difference up close, but if you are familiar with the Apple Watch, you’ll immediately realize that the experience has been significantly improved overall.
However, let’s take a short glance at the features that the Apple Watch Series 10 offers before I go into the upgrades:
There are two sizes for the Apple Watch Series 10: 42mm and 46mm. Both of them are visible in the pictures included in this assessment. The casing for the Watch Series 10 is composed of titanium and aluminum. The aluminum also receives a new color this time around, Jet Black, which has the same glossy, mirror-like appearance as the steel version. That finish is included in the 46mm watch that is reviewed here.
The 42mm and 46mm models of the Apple Watch Series 10 include an OLED Retina LTPO display with an Always-On mode that has a resolution of 352 x 430 pixels and 396 x 484 pixels, respectively. The maximum brightness of the panel is 2,000 nits.
The Series 10, which is driven by the S10 SiP CPU, has quick charging capabilities that enable it to achieve 80% battery life in less than an hour. In terms of durability, the titanium models have scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, IP6X dust resistance, and WR50 grade for water resistance up to 50 meters. Ion-X glass protects the aluminum versions.
The watch has GPS, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, and, for cellular variants, optional LTE. 64GB of internal storage is also included for media, applications, and other storage needs. The titanium variants are somewhat heavier at 40g and 47g, respectively, while the aluminum model weighs around 32g for the 42mm and 39g for the 46mm variety.
The Apple Watch Series 10 may look the same, but it’s not
In terms of the experience, I could tell right away that the Watch Series 10 is lighter and smaller when I first put it on. According to Apple, you won’t notice, but the watch’s internal digital crown has been decreased by a millimeter, which contributes to its thinner design.
It appears that the display is also brighter. According to Apple, the wide-angle display in the Series 10, which employs LTPO3 technology, makes the OLED display up to 40% brighter than the Series 9 from specific angles. Furthermore, the Watch Series 10 boasts the biggest display on an Apple Watch to date—yes, it even surpasses the Watch Ultra’s in size. As stated to Apple, the Watch Series 10 has 3 per cent more screen than Ultra 2.
As a result, typing on the Apple Watch is now considerably simpler. I don’t text a lot on my watch—who does?—but occasionally, when I’m not near my phone, I prefer to utilize the Apple Watch keyboard to respond quickly. Using the Watch Series 9, I followed suit. There are undoubtedly fewer mistakes on the Watch Series 10. This is also the result of the keyboard’s 20% larger buttons.
The Apple Watch Series 10 boasts an enhanced screen refresh rate. When the watch is inactive, its OLED display now refreshes once every second instead of once every minute as it did before. In order to take use of this 1Hz refresh rate and provide crisper animations even in low-power mode, Apple has also released new watch faces. This update ensures smooth images at all times, saves battery life, and improves user experience overall.
The Watch Series 10 charges faster than any other Apple Watch
As previously said, I use my Apple Watch frequently. I spend 16 to 18 hours a day using it. I utilize the fitness app during that time, listen to music on the Watch, pair my AirPods with it, answer calls, switch on the Always On display, and get notifications for business applications. I get approximately a day and a half of battery life with all that. I am pretty delighted with that. Yes, that is the same battery performance I had with the Watch Series 9 if I compare it to that. Thus, in terms of improvements, both watches’ battery lives have stayed the same.
But the support for rapid charging has greatly increased. Like Apple promises, the Watch Series 10 “charges faster than ever”. It takes me little more than an hour to fully charge my Watch Series 10. I can still use the watch throughout the day even after charging it for 45 to 50 minutes. I believe that the Apple Watch was lacking this capability for some time.
The Watch Series 10 upgrades that I love more than others
Voice isolation support and the training load function are my two favorite features of the new Apple Watch Series 10, while I do really enjoy the improvements made to theApple Watch Series 10 display, design, and battery.
Now, let’s discuss voice separation. It’s always been handy to answer calls on the Apple Watch, but unless it’s a simple “yes” or “no,” you frequently wind up ending the conversation early and going to your phone since the other person is drowned out by background noise. With Watch Series 10, that is altered. Voice isolation, a function that reduces background noise, is now supported. I purposefully took calls on the watch when I was in the gym and in a crowded market to test it.
The training load is the other new function on the watch that I really like. You are going to adore the training load function if, like me, your primary use for the Apple Watch is tracking health data.
The function essentially aids in understanding and improving your training and is straightforward and easy to use. It lets you know how much burden you are carrying about throughout your workout right now and if you should let up or push yourself harder.
This tool compares your activity over the previous 28 days with the intensity and length of your exercises during the last 7 days.It classifies your current training load based on this comparison, with categories ranging from “well below” to “well above,” assisting you in determining if your program is sustainable and in understanding the stress your body is under.
You can access this data by opening the Activity app on your watch, selecting the Training Load button, and navigating through your previous seven days of training load using the Digital Crown.
For me, the tool has improved my understanding of my workout intensity and allowed me to plan my training more intelligently. It also takes into consideration prolonged, low-heart-rate activities like trekking. While effort ratings for strength training are automatically generated, those for cardio require individual input. An average of 28 days weighted by the training load is used to compute it.
Should you get the Apple Watch Series 10?
At the risk of coming across as too enthusiastic, I suggest giving the Apple Watch Series 10 some thought. The Watch Series 10 offers a great deal of improved functionality over the Watch Series 9, or any earlier Apple Watch. Some of these improvements might not be apparent at first. The base pricing of the Apple Watch is Rs 46,900 for the aluminium model and Rs 79,900 for the titanium model.
